To Write a Life: Memoir Writing Workshop

Back by popular demand! Have you always wanted to write your memoir but don’t know where to start? Do you have some ideas, or even a draft or two, but are unsure of what to do next? Regardless of where you are in the process–even if you’re just thinking about it–this class will help you get those words down. Through guided writing exercises, you will turn your memories into meaningful, true stories. You’ll come away with one or more brief memoirs, ideas for book-length projects, and some tools for moving forward. All writing levels welcome.

What’s the Story? General Nonfiction Writing

6 weeks, beginning in September. Dates and location coming soon.

Whether you’re new to creative writing or you’ve written in the past and would like to jump back in, this class is for you. Together we will explore various types of nonfiction: Memoir, personal essay, exploratory personal writing, and more, supported by in-class writing from prompts and discussion of published examples. For those who wish to go deeper, you’ll have the opportunity to share your work created outside out of class and receive feedback from your peers.

Introduction to Memoir

Get started or revise your short or book-length memoirs through writing exercises and readings. Open to all levels.

Writing Women

In the company of supportive women, meet weekly to write from prompts and share writing created inside and outside of class.

Personal Writing 

The act of self-expression can be clarifying, therapeutic, and just plain fun. Through guided writing exercises, you’ll deepen your understanding of yourself  in a supportive community of writers.
